Uniklinikum Erlangen

The Uniklinikum Erlangen is a tertiary hospital with a focus on oncologic treatment associated to the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, one of the largest universities in Germany. The Department of Surgery at the Uniklinikum Erlangen is specialized in cancer treatment with a focus on the therapy of pancreatic cancer, and it treats over 150 patients with pancreatic diseases each year. For this the department hosts a large biobank of samples for diagnostic studies.

In Erlangen, LaserBlood is championed by the department head Prof. Robert Grützmann (h-Index: 62) and Prof. Christian Pilarsky (h-Index: 63) both experts in clinical and translational pancreatic cancer research. The team is complemented by Dr. Henriette Golcher, the head of the clinical trial unit of the Department of Surgery and Dr. Eva Lentsch.

Within LaserBlood we provide expertise in pancreatic cancer diagnosis and treatment as well as highly characterized patient samples for testing and validating this new and promising test system.

 

Uniklinikum Erlangen’s WP leader – Prof. Christian Pilarsky

Prof. Christian Pilarsky is a scientist and professor at Universitätsklinikum Erlangen, Germany, working in the hospital’s Division of Surgical Research.

With expertise in biochemistry, molecular biology, and biotechnology, his work focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of pancreatic cancer.

Through advanced cell culture techniques and innovative research approaches, he contributes to the development of new strategies for early diagnosis and treatment, aiming to improve patient outcomes in this challenging field.
